This is part one of my MPC series. After doing the MicroKorg I thought it only acceptable to blend the culture of hip hip producers with the Nike Dunk (nothing new!). The MPC is a staple of hip hop producers in and out of the industry and its something I am fond of. I do not currently own one now since going to all software based production but I will pick one up eventually. I have used many different MPC’s and love the feel and sampling sound they have. Here are two dunks based on the most common MPC2000XL and the MPC 2000 SE1. They aren’t the best dunks I’ve done but it’s fun to get ideas and run with them. One of my favorite synths I own, the MicroKorg. Here is a little tribute with the colorway, a subtle Korg logo on the heel and vintage wood look. I think it turned out good, I like em. If you’ve never seen this keyboard, hit the jump to see a pic.

A friend of mine suggested I do a series based on each faction from the upcoming game M.A.G., for those who don’t know, M.A.G. stands for Massive Action Game. Here is what the wiki page describes it as…

The game will utilize a new server architecture to support online battles with up to 256 players, with users divided into 8-player squads, with 4 squads forming a platoon, and 4 platoons forming a company. Each squad will be led by a player who has advanced through the game’s ranking system. Character statistics and development will also increase with frequent gameplay. The players most advanced in rank will be able to either direct the battle or participate directly in combat.

I have a pair of the Zoom FC Inter Milan shoes, unfortunately I tore them up skating. They are in pretty bad condition buy I still wear them, this is a tribute…I wish I could buy these!! Hit the jump to see my originals, which I can’t get in 12 anymore… =(

My friend is a huge Mega Man fan and asked me to do a dunk theme with his jump pose sprite, I ended up using the sprite to create negative space on the back heel, simple yet effective. The colors are all sample from the Mega Man sprite. I like the way these turned out!! Check out the sprite after the jump.

I got a couple more interesting ideas for some dunks. I used some shots of the Pip Boy, in-game screenshots, and some metal/grunge textures to put together a Fallout 3 theme complete with Vault 101 embroidered logo on the heel. My second idea was to put together a theme for my favorite beer of summer, Dos Exuis Amber. I had fun messing with some layers to get the condensation look from a beer bottle and a small engraved logo section the the back sole. Hope you like! Click images for full size previews.
